A:

Dear Jonathan:

When in doubt--stick to the fundamentals. If you are Roman Catholic--you were baptized, right? God's Word says, "He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:5b,6.  When you were baptized you were born again. Your sins were washed away. Saving faith was planted in your heart. You were adopted into the family of God. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. Jesus promised--"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand." John 10:27 We are saved by grace through faith for Jesus' sake! Read God's Word and your faith will be strengthened. Read God's Word and your faith will grow. I am forgiven--not because I hold on to Jesus--but because Jesus loves me! Jesus is our Strength, our Redeemer and our Refuge. Fear not! Jesus is our Peace!
