For Me to Live is Christ – A Stewardship Encouragement Program

Welcome to the stewardship encouragement developed in a special partnership of the WELS Commission on Adult Discipleship, WELS Ministry of Christian Giving, and you. The intention is to provide your congregation with a single, focused 4 week stewardship program that coordinates with “Every Life for Christ” – the theme of the fourth phase of North American outreach. Special this year are the three new 8-page booklets that can be sent home with each member to work through their calling – with their tasks, relationships and their resources. All this is being provided completely on the Web for you to use as well as a CD sent to each congregation.. The Web site is also set up to receive any additional resources you develop in line with this theme that you are willing to share for beneficial use by other congregations. The underlying theme is the doctrine of vocation – the “callings” given us by God at the present time. The materials are to help you and your congregation address this aspect of growing in faith. The third part specifically addresses how our money and resources fall in line with our calling. This provides a lead in to a congregational commitment Sunday as an expression of our theme – “For Me to Live is Christ.” We need to speak God’s Word boldly in these matters. Commitment forms are included. Here is another opportunity to have God’s people understand their unique position as ones “called” by God and carefully consider how they can use their tasks, relationships and resources to live for Christ.

There are no short-cuts or magic programs to individual growth in Christian living especially in the area of financial stewardship. It is the Holy Spirit that transforms hearts to respond at the level of their faith. How important it is to stress the overall spiritual growth of individuals through the means of grace as they spend time drinking in the Word at church and home - staying connected to the means of grace and living out their application in their lives!
