After years under communism the Bulgarian people are struggling to build a market economy.  The beauty of neighborhoods built in the early 1900's and the production of rose oil mask the real need of the Bulgarians to learn of the Gospel.  The relationship between the historic orthodox church and state make ministry in this Balkan nation a challenge to the Bulgarian Lutheran Church.  Three Bulgarian pastors and two Bulgarian deaconesses assist in this ministry headquartered in the capital city of Sophia.
