Active Learning

Heart in Focus sessions are not aimed at listening to complicated, long lectures but at providing a climate for discovery and personal problem-solving. Participants have plenty of opportunities to share personal insights and experiences during small group time. The personal struggles, laughs, encouragements, and great individual financial tips make each session uniquely suited to the group. Each participant will leave with a new commitment and support system for their finances.

Christ-centered Spiritual Focus

This program is unique among other Christian financial courses. Heart in Focus is not merely aimed at those swamped in debt but for all who want to encourage each other toward more focused use of their finances. It has a decidedly Lutheran approach. It intentionally goes beyond “financial principles” of Scripture to unfold the different aspects of God’s loving relationship with us in Christ. Law and Gospel lead participants to recognize the sinful nature and see the forgiveness and power of Christ. Finally, Heart in Focus equips participants to carry out their unique calling in daily life.

The HEART…

Financial struggles are so often inner struggles. The Heart in Focus logo represents that inner “pull of the heart” and how it influences our finances. Materialism blinds us to the poor daily choices that affect our future freedoms. Throughout the sessions participants will spend time looking at the miss-focus and distraction of the Old Self compared to the powerful motivation God gives to live the
fullness of life he intended.

                    …IN FOCUS
The sessions are built on these spiritual themes:

Fix Your Eyes on Lasting Treasure (Heaven)
Overcome Worry (the Father’s Care)
Conquer the Obstacles (Christ’s Perseverance)
Use His Gifts Wisely (God as Owner)
Shift Your Priorities (Holy Spirit work-calling)
